Girls Rock and Golf Rookies

England Golf's "Girls Golf Rocks" is back for 2024 and is being joined a new "Get into Golf Rookies" and Eastbourne Downs are delighted to be running both programmes this summer, led by our PGA-qualifed golf professional

Girls Golf Rocks encourages beginner girls to learn and play golf in a fun and friendly way, and it is the country’s largest participation programme for girls.
Get into Golf Rookies meanwhile aims to provide more opportunities for children and young people to learn to play golf and is delivered in mixed sessions.

Both our programmes are aimed at all children and young people aged 9-18 and offer six hours of activity, with 4 x 1.5 hour sessions over consecutive Saturdays in May and June. Activity blocks cost £40 per participant, with each person receiving a goodie bag as part of the programme. For Girls Golf Rocks this contains a branded polo shirt, water bottle, bag and tees. Get into Golf Rookies participants receive a branded baseball cap, water bottle, bag and tees.

Ladies Open

Sadly, our annual Ladies Open is not taking place in 2024 but watch this space to see if it returns in 2025

The 2023 competition took place on Thursday 13th July 2023 with 40 visiting ladies competing in the 18 Hole 4BBB - 85% handicap. There were some impressive scores, with the worthy winners, Shelagh Furniss and Carol Stewart-Smith, from the Royal Eastbourne Golf Club, coming in with 44 points. Our Lady Captain, Sue Norris, thanked our members for all their support, volunteering to help & those who contributed prizes to the raffle, raising a fantastic £210 for St Wilfrid's Hospice
